Activities of the club

Spit roasts at formal and informal dances and large get togethers. BBQ, s at he end of junior training, during Sunday patrols, and at beach parties.
Carnivals, beach for both senior and juniors, and for IRB, during the winter. Development of beach lifesaving skills, instructional techniques, and the fun of leadership.
We provide water safety at triathlons, by patrolling by rescue boards and Rescue boats (IRB, S) to do this one must hold a patrol bronze star or a patrol bronze award.
The club also takes part in Clean up Australia and reports for the EPA.

Board Training/ Mal. Training

Mal training takes place at the following times;
Thursdays 16:30 to 17:30 for beginners and a little more advanced
Tuesdays and Thursdays 17:30 to approximately 18:30 (depending on how tired we get) Competition board training sessions for those intending to compete in seniors carnivals.
Occasionally on Sundays. Decided on the Thursday immediately prior to that Sunday and announced only at Thursday's advanced competition board training session.
A team will attend all available seniors competitions including the Masters Championships on February 16th at Lorne.

Lifeguard Training

At 13 years members train to take the Patrol Star award and then can be part of the Official Patrol.
At 14 years training continues and they can take the radio level 2 and help main the base station as a patrol duty.
At 15 they can take the Patrol Bronze and at 16 take the crewing award so that they can man the IRB as a patrol duty. ('NAV' course equivalent to Recreational Boat Licence)
At 17 years members can take the drivers award and then drive the boat on patrol.
One does not have to be a swimmer to be part of the patrol, one can do resuscitation and first aid as a separate award also people can man the radios without any other qualification.
